Apparently I have now made my first major mistake of the New Year: I bought Newt a cat toy that makes chirping bird noises. Very loud chirping bird noises.
Ah, see herein lies one benefit of having a dog who enjoys ripping his toys open almost immediately upon receiving them. Squeakers and noisemakers aren't long for this world.
Hey Betty, do you happen to know the specific name of the chirping bird toy? Against my better judgment, I might want to get something similar for our cat. :)
Fred: Maybe dogs do have some advantages over cats, after all. Although I think this particular toy looks lamentably sturdy. :)
Jarod: Masochist. :) Well, I'm not sure what it's called, but I think it's from Hartz, and I bought it at Wal-Mart. It's a round plastic thing with a ball trapped in a groove on the side that the cat can bat around and around in a circle. The ball has an Angry Birds-looking bird on it, and every time it moves, it yells. Much more loudly than I expected it to.

Wouldn't you yell, if you were a bird, trapped in a ball, being batted around by a cat? You might even be angry, too.
