Algorithms Are Judging Me.

So, apparently there was an episode of Nova on tonight about the Dover Intelligent-Design-in-the-schools court case, which I was somewhat interested in seeing, except that I didn't realize it was going to be on until after I'd already left for the day. "No problem," I told myself. "I bet the TiVo gets it for me, anyway." Well, it didn't. I'm not really bothered about missing the show, but I find that I do feel rather hurt by the fact that my TiVo doesn't think I'm the sort of person who watches Nova.

  1. Let's see, it looks like the shows it chose to record yesterday on its own initiative were: Becker, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, two episodes of The Office, The King of Queens, That 70s Show, How It's Made, Storm Stories, Reno 911! and Star Trek.

I'm not at all sure what that says.

  2. It says that there is precious little worth watching on TV any more.

  3. I'm convinced that what TiVo selects for us is what it's getting paid to select for us. I fricken hate that feature.

  4. Mine was doing a reasonable job there for a while. Although it kept picking things I wasn't going to bother watching because I already had them on DVD.
