Raining on Our Parade

You've got to love nature's little ironies. We've been suffering through 100-degree temperatures and extreme drought for months, but, yes, today it's cool and rainy. Not that I'm complaining. At this point I doubt you'd find anyone in the American Southwest who'd be willing to complain about precipitation in any form. Indeed, I'm really hoping we end up getting a lot more than the light sprinkling we've had so far. Let the heavens open up, and fireworks be damned! We need the moisture a lot more than we need the entertainment.

Speaking of entertainment, I was invited to a cookout today, but I ended up deciding not to go, mainly because it was in Albuquerque, and I really just didn't feel like driving all the way up there today. I'm not sure exactly what the weather is like in Albuquerque at the moment, but if it's anything like it's been here, I probably made the right choice. Which at least makes me feel a lot better about blowing off the friend who invited me.

In any case, rain or shine, I'd like to wish everybody a happy Fourth of July. (Yes, even you Limeys and Kiwis! Feel free to make up something to celebarate!)
